The Paradise Parrot is presumed extinct. The last ones were supposed to have died out in the 1930's. There have been sporadic sightings since then but no hard evidence. Someone needs to get an actual picture of one. The Goodnight Scrub NP is so thick they could easily still be in that region without anyone knowing it.
My brother was working for a farmer in the victorian mallee and this mallee block is right next to a huge portion of uncleared land full of mallee trees and spinifex.
He is certain he seen about 10 paradise parrots as my brother and i went through a book called parrots of Australia by Terence Lindsay and page 86 is what he said he had seen.
This is even before he knew anything about this parrot being considered extinct. This happened in may 2005 and i have been unable to locate anything except mulga parrots, ringnecks, regent parrots.
